The mountains have no names. I didn't design them — they arrived through my hands, one suggesting the next.
山に名前はない。
デザインしたわけではない——
手を通じて生まれ、ひとつがつぎを呼んだ。
I don't like hiking.
But I have always been thinking about mountains.
Maybe because in Taiwan,
you look up and they are just there.
山登りは好きじゃない。
でも、山のことをずっと考えている。
台湾では、
ふと見上げると、
山がそこにある。
あるものには、足が生えた。
なぜかはわからない。
どこかへ行きたかったのかもしれない。
あるいは、もうそこにいて、
足だけがあとから来たのかもしれない。
Some of them grew legs.
I don't know why.
Maybe they wanted to go somewhere.
Maybe they were already there,
and the legs just appeared.
