Space in Between brings together two Taiwanese artists whose practices explore the relationship between material,
memory, and place through textile-based works.
Working from different perspectives yet sharing a sensitivity towards material processes, the exhibition creates a
dialogue between natural fibres, landscape, and making. Rather than presenting textiles as finished objects,
Space in Between invites visitors to experience them as records of observation, transformation, and time.
Through installations, material experiments, and participatory events, the exhibition offers a space to slow down,
notice subtle changes, and reflect on the connections between people, materials, and the environments they inhabit.

hrough textile installations and material experimentation, familiar materials become carriers of experience, inviting visitors to slow down and
engage with subtle transformations that often go unnoticed.

Space in Between is presented as part of London Design Festival 2026, bringing together the practices of Taiwanese artists
Iris Lin and Sidney Liu.
Although each artist works with textiles in different ways, both are interested in how materials carry traces of place, memory,
and lived experience. Their works emerge through careful observation, making, and experimentation, transforming fibres into forms
that invite new ways of seeing and sensing.
For Iris Lin, textile becomes a method of translation. Drawing from field research, natural dyeing, and material experimentation,
her practice explores how encounters with landscapes, plants, and everyday experiences can be transformed into tactile and spatial forms.
Wool dyed with tea and botanical materials becomes both a record of observation and a medium through which visitors are encouraged to
engage with place through multiple senses.
Alongside the exhibition, a programme of workshops and tea gatherings extends these ideas beyond the gallery, inviting visitors to participate
through making, conversation, and shared experiences.
Rather than offering fixed narratives, Space in Between proposes the exhibition as an open space for attention—where material, memory, and
environment meet, and where new relationships can emerge through observation and participation.

Iris Lin
Iris Lin is a Taiwanese designer and artist whose practice bridges design and artistic research t
hrough material exploration, participatory experiences, and spatial installations.
Working across textiles, natural dyeing, workshops, and field research,
she investigates how observation can be translated into tangible experiences that connect people
with places, materials, and one another.
